AMV calls for mass prayers on Dec 31, 2009 at  SBIA

San Jose, CA - The American Muslim Voice Foundation, alongside an array of multi-faith groups and diverse community organizations, will host a press conference on Thursday, December 31st 2009 followed by Maghrib prayer and a candle light vigil to mark the New Year as an opportunity for hope at the hands of diverse communities coming together in the name of peace.

Friday, January 1st will bring a new year and coincides with the holy day for Muslims. As Muslims we strongly believe in the power of prayer so we are asking all Khateebs to encourage everyone to get involved and take one step towards the world they seek as we pray on Friday’s Khutba for a brighter tomorrow and peace on our planet.  Let us start spreading good will and good news for a change. Together we can create a world we would be proud to leave behind for our future generations!

What: Multifaith press conference @ 4:30 followed by Mughrib prayer, candle light vigil and social gathering.

Why: To reflect upon the state our world is in and to pray for a promising tomorrow.

Who:  Multi-faith leaders, concerned Americans, and people who seek peace as the solution.

When: Thursday, December 31 2009 @ 4:30pm

Where: SBIA 325 North 3rd Street, San Jose, CA 95112

After the vigil we will sow the seeds of new friendships with a tea party and social gathering.

The American Muslim Voice Foundation is seeking partners for the Miracle Movement of Peace and Friendship. We strongly believe that in order to seek peace we must shatter segregating barriers and form lasting personal relationships that develop stronger, harmonious communities, the cornerstone of safe and secure nations in a peaceful world. Please join hands with us as we walk on the path Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. paved for us by nurturing old friendships and sowing the seeds of new ones in pursuit of the dream of a peaceful, inclusive and beloved world.

On Thursday, December 31 2009 join us by saying a prayer and lighting a candle for peace, friendship and renewed hope. Share your vision of peace and one step you are willing to take in 2010 to achieve that goal.
