Interfaith Communities United for Affordable Housing holds 5th annual gathering in Oakland on Oct. 21
The East Bay Housing Organization (EBHO) is holding its 5th Annual Gathering of Interfaith Communities United for Affordable Housing (ICU). Theme of this year’s event is: "Shelter in a Time of Storms: Building a National Movement for Housing Justice."
The gathering, to be held at the Cathedral of Christ the Light Oakland, CA, will be moderated by Samina Sundas, the Founding Executive Director of American Muslim Voice.
The breakfast gathering will be attended by leaders from the Martin Luther King Jr. Justice/ Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Vincent Harding, Professor Emeritus of Religion and Social Transformation, Iliff School of Theology, will be a keynote speaker. Rev. James Lawson, Distinguished Professor,Vanderbilt University, will be another keynote speaker. Rev. Phil Lawson will speak on the purpose of the gathering.
The program will include prayers from Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths.
East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) is a 24-year-old membership non-profit organization dedicated to working with communities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties to preserve, protect and expand affordable housing opportunities through education, advocacy, and coalition building.
