American Muslim Voice urges Muslims to share the joy
of Ramadan and Eid with their fellow Americans
American Muslim Voice Foundation’s Board of Directors has announced their grassroots campaign to eradicate Islamophobia by opening their homes for dinner for one evening during the month of Ramadan. We strongly believe that building personal relationships by breaking bread together is the key to mending rifts and promoting peace, mutual respect and friendship among all Americans.
We are encouraging all Muslim organizations, leaders and community members to join hands with us to make this campaign successful. In today’s increasingly diverse societies, interaction with people of different faiths and ethnicities will be beneficial for all of us.
Dinner and dialog can be used as an effective tool to eradicate Islamophobia and could promote understanding towards Islam and Muslims around the world. We want the world to know Islam means peace but our words should be accompanied by our actions and deeds.
We are asking you to open your home and invite neighbors, colleagues, interfaith partners, public officials and media representatives to your home for a simple Iftar dinner or Eid celebrations. Share the joy of Ramadan, Eid and your traditions with all Americans. It would be very effective even if you can invite only a few neighbors. The key is mass mobilization. Sow the seeds of friendship and peace. Let us proudly practice Islam in the main stream among our fellow Americans and not just in the Mosques and our homes. It is time to share the joy and pride of being Muslims with the world.
Invite an Imam, scholar or someone who is well equipped to answer questions about Islam, should they arise.
