American Muslim Voice Foundation
From fear to friendship

www.amuslimvoice.org      Phone: 650-387-1994

“Practice With Your Feet” is a project of leadership education and training. Its curriculum is based upon principles of human rights, non-violence, critical consciousness, and community service. These universal principles are the core tenets of Islam. Social responsibility and leadership are essential expressions of Islamic faith.

The leadership curriculum will utilize diverse trainings and workshops to develop strong, sensitive, confident, vibrant and effective women leaders. These are just a few samples of the Practice With Your Feet curriculum:

How to be an Effective Ambassador of Islam
Counteracting Islamophobia
Demystifying Sharia
Effective Coalition Building
Interfaith/inter-community relations
Discovering and Developing Emotional Intelligence
Self-discovery through Social Biography
Knowing and Understanding our Cultures and Histories
Learning and Understanding other Diverse Cultures and American History
Practicing Islam in the Mainstream with Comfort and Confidence
Public Speaking: Communicate with Clarity and Confidence
Media training:  The art of speaking to the Media
Voter education: How to become polling officer register voters

Election 2012 and the Role of Muslims, especially Muslim women
Volunteerism and its Impact on Muslim Community

Our true wealth is the good we do in the world.

Practice With Your Feet provides ongoing training for 12 months, free of cost.

American Muslim Voice will implement this leadership program in three phases over the next three years

1: Girls/Women. (1st training will be on Sat, January 28st from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at AMV office.)
2: Youth/Young men
3: Multifaith leaders

This succession plan is the key to transferring leadership to the future generations by sharing the wealth of knowledge acquired by the AMV Foundation in the past decade by being active in the fields of community and peace building. These emerging leaders represent the continuity of the work of the American Muslim Voice Foundation.

The first class of leadership 'participants' will be Muslim women from age 16 and up. Women leaders, particularly young women of color, are critical for modeling democratic and just practices. Young Muslim American girls and women can play a powerful role in peacemaking, social equity and interfaith/intercultural community building. An objective of “Practice With Your Feet” is to introduce the next generation of Muslims to a special dimension of leadership central to both the Muslim and greater American narrative.

Are you the one we are searching for?

American Muslim Voice Foundation is committed to highlighting the social contributions of Muslim women, particularly in the process of creating future Muslim peacemakers and community builders.  Over the past eight years the greater community has embraced our contribution and unique perspective to interfaith harmony and human rights advocacy.

Popular AMV Foundation events:

Dinner and Dialogue
Peace Picnics
Interfaith/Multicultural Open House
Ramadan Iftar Dinners
Eid Brunches and Dinners
Teach- ins: Immigrant Rights; Countering Islamophobia, etc.
The Annual AMV Peace Conventions
and our latest campaign:
National Invite Your Neighbors to Dinner Day”.

Only love and kindness can drive out hate.

During the year each participant will take part in planning and coordinating three AMV community building events at venues in their local communities.  They will also offer three presentations at various venues such as schools, colleges, universities, interfaith events and places of worship.

Each participant will develop leadership through a peer- to- peer learning process, rooted in the unique perspective of society and faith as seen through the American Muslim lens, particularly the lens of  Muslim women.  These participants will be agents of positive change through American Muslim Voice Foundation’s hallmark activities of community building and peacemaking. They will become an integral part of these American Muslim Voice campaigns and projects: interfaith open houses, Iftar dinners, Eid brunches and peace picnics. They will assist in coordinating the new “National Invite Your Neighbors to Dinner Day” as well as perform advocacy work as part of their training.

Please invest in this project generously.

Parents and friends are encouraged to participate by lending material and spiritual support.

American Muslim Voice Foundation deeply believes in fostering friendships among all Americans by bridging the cultural and religious gap. Every day we promote new relationships and nurture the old ones because our country’s safety, security and peace depend on us getting to know each other. We will continue our quest to build an inclusive and beloved world, where all of us will feel safe and at home.

California- based grassroots organization American Muslim Voice Foundation was founded in July 2003 by American Muslims to work for and with Americans of all religious, cultural, and class backgrounds. AMV Foundation works with multi-faith groups and is earning recognition for its consistent, effective, and respectful approach to community and peace-building.  AMV has quickly become a centerpiece in the regional movement to build an inclusive, beloved community. The organization strives to strengthen the social and moral fiber of our world by transforming strangers into neighbors working together toward a common goal, forging bonds and authentic friendships in the process.

American Muslim Voice Foundation celebrates diversity and values all human beings regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, color, sexual orientation, socio economics or creed.
