Samina has been nominated for Human Rights Hero Award of Global Exchange
American Muslim Voice Founding Executive Director, Samina Sundas, has been nominated for a Human Rights Hero Award of the Global Exchange.

Voting is open till October 5 while award will be announced on October 22.
Global Exchange honors the unsung heroes working to build a better world in neighborhoods, in communities and beyond.
Global Exchange will honor one human rights hero from each category (Peace, Economic Justice, Green Alternatives), who will receive $1,000 toward their work, and join the esteemed legacy of its Human Rights Awardees, including Harry Belafonte, Alice Walker, Dr. Paul Farmer and others.
A Human Rights Heroes at Home Selection Committee, consisting of Global Exchange board members, staff, allies, and noted activists will review each nominee and weigh the number of votes and other selection criteria.
The Committee will meet on October 7, 2009 to review each nomination. Selection of HRH@H awardees will be based on the following evaluation criteria:
- The number of votes from the public each candidate receives
- Evidence of contribution to human rights struggles
- Demonstration that the HRH@H honor will strengthen and advance the candidate’s efforts and work
