On September 11th, 2009, the American Muslim Voice Foundation along with Multifaith groups and community organizations will host Iftar (breaking of the Ramadan fast) and a candle light vigil at Lafayette Park, SE Quadrant (in front of the White House) in Washington DC to spread the Miracle Movement of Peace and Friendship.

We will "Light the Night for Peace and Friendship" to honor 9/11 victims and their families by
sowing the seeds of peace and friendship. Together we can build a safe secure, peaceful and harmonious world for us and our future generations.

The Miracle Movement of Peace & Friendship is dedicated to walk on the path Martin Luther King Jr. paved for us. This movement is striving to create a culture of peace, acceptance, mutual respect and harmony. Together we can build an inclusive, peaceful and beloved nation for us and our kids. We are committed to to provide social gathering to foster friendships among all Americans.

Any one could be a part of this movement. To become a peace partner of “The Miracle Movement of Peace and Friendship” Just send us an email at samina_faheem@yahoo.com as soon as possible. We invite you to visit www.amuslimvoice.org to learn more about us.

Here is how anyone could be a part of this event:

Become a host and Vigil Coordinator for your neighborhood.

Send a press release to the media. Sample press release will be available on www.amuslimvoice.org

Plan a social gathering (Iftar, (breaking of the Ramada fast) pot luck dinner or dessert party)

Invite neighbors, family and friends to your event at home or places of worship.

If possible, invite members of Peaceful Tomorrows (http://www.peacefultomorrows.org/) group to your event.

On Sept 11th, open your home or places of worship to old friends and future friends.

Discussion: Share your vision of peace and one step you are willing to take to achieve that goal.

Sample discussion topics: What are your community issues? Old wounds that need healing? How can we help one another to forgive, heal and work towards peace and friendships?

Sow the seeds of peace and friendship.

Just light a candle, put it on your window  and pray for the victims, their families and for peace in our world if you are unable to do any of the above

Designate a few candle lighters, photographer and event reporter.

Hold a candle light vigil after sunset, honor 9/11 victims and their families. The vigils may be held in your front yard, Neighborhood Parks or places of worship.

Please send photos and report to samina_faheem@yahoo.com. Let us start spreading good will and good news for a change.

A special call to Muslim and Arab communities.

This year, September 11th falls during the month of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Muslim faith, so we encourage all of you to be part of our Miracle Movement of Peace and Friendship by opening your hearts and homes to your fellow Americans. Share the joy of Ramadan with your neighbors and collogues by inviting them to Iftar (fast breaking), educate them about Ramadan and how Muslims pray, pray Mughrib (sunset prayer) and let them witness. Once they understand our way of praying it will not be considered a suspicious activity at the airports when Muslims pray as a congregation.

Then go outside and "Light the Night for Peace and friendship
